Lake Tahoe

A route change allowed us to spend one night near Lake Tahoe before the big push to Colorado. The drive from the Yosemite area to Lake Tahoe had some great views.

Excellent scenic overlook we had all to ourselves for lunch.
We had several reference books to teach the kids, and ourselves, about each state. We would spend about 30 minutes during each drive going over state specific information.
Random lake with a unique dam that made for a quick stretch break.
Dam good photo of Charlie….who was frightened to be standing on this old dam that was primed to fail at any minute!
William exploring the worst possible place to be during a dam failure!
Incredible view of an unknown lake on an unknown road somewhere between Yosemite and Lake Tahoe.
We finally made it to Lake Tahoe but had to try a few spots before finding a good swimming beach.
The water was crystal clear and very cold. I believe the average temp for this time of year is 58. Nobody would get in so I jumped in for a quick swim which convinced them it was a good idea, except for Dina (the smart one).
I told her there was some pain in my hands and feet after about 15 minutes and she replied, in one of my favorite sarcastic-serious voices, “that’s because you are dying right now”!
