Big Basin Redwoods State Park

Today was an exciting day as we would finally turn east for the first time in 22 days. Some of the kids were a little homesick so our direction change was comforting even though we were still 11 days and 2,800 miles from NC.

This ended up being one of our rougher days on the road. There is a lot of traffic and construction in this area making it tricky to stay on schedule. Our destination was Yosemite Pines RV and a stop at Big Basin SP along the way. This took us through Santa Cruz, San Jose and up a narrow winding road where we didn’t belong.

Big Basin is an easy way to see some of the older redwoods quickly as they have a 20 minute hike right off the parking lot/visitor center. Parking can get a little congested so whatever you do don’t drive up there with a travel trailer in tow like we did!

We were very grateful to the understanding park ranger who let us take up a few of the 15 minute spots for a quick run to see some of the trees.

The last 30 minutes approaching Big Basin was cool but many opportunities to clip a tree with the camper.
We were fully expecting to get thrown out. I was very apologetic about showing up in the rig and they were gracious enough to let us take a quick look around.
Deep thoughts by Benjamin.
William freaked out every time he saw a Tesla. The problem is in CA every 10th car is a Tesla.
My fascination with the wind farms continues.
