The real surf is in the winter but we decided to give it a try. Excellent surf rentals just down the road from the campsite and we were good to go.
We will try to hunt down more pictures as the family joined Charlie and I at the beach later that day.
The funny things is that we went to the wrong Manresa beach access. Two minutes down the road the break is more consistent and the waves were slightly better. Probably best we stayed out of everyone’s way!
Sand Dollar Quality Surfboard Repair ( http://www.dingrepair.net/ ) had great rental equipment and advice on how to have a successful day. Felix, the shop owner, primarily repairs surfboards from the Monterey and Santa Cruz areas but is also an excellent photographer http://mistyhillranch.com/ .
His surfboards are named….Charlie rode Jethro and I was on R.J. Charlie was able to get up a few times but I was going to need a little larger waves to get things going.
