San Francisco, CA

Windy and a little cool but we had a great day visiting San Francisco. A little tricky parking our vehicle but we managed to find a spot after looking for 45 minutes. We are too tall for most parking decks and too large in general for the pay for the day lots where they want to pack in as many cars as possible.

Crossing over the Golden Gate was fun and then heading through the tunnel and up the hillside to one of the bridge viewing spots is a must.

We purchased cable car tickets before we learned it was an 1.5 hour wait just to get on. It was at the top of our to do list so the boys held the line while the ladies went shopping. We texted about 10 minutes before boarding and they ran back to meet us.

Desiring to skate the Lake Cunningham park in San Jose we headed across the Oakland Bay Bridge but did not make it in time before they closed.

Once again playing the hold your breath tunnel game. Tried to go toe to toe with the kids and got a little light headed on this one. Probably not the best game for the driver to play.
Bridge visitor center area.
You felt pretty high up and with the strong winds Benjamin as a little nervous.
Enjoyed watching a container ship come in from the sea as well as other small vessels cruising around. Very interesting currents around the bridge and other areas which would make safe navigation tricky. Also, why they believe the guys that escaped Alcatraz could not have made it to shore.
Charlie crossed the “do not cross” fence for a closer look. He originally went to explore the gun turret on the left and then ventured down a little further. During the trip we followed the rules for the most part but some features were too tempting.
World War II Harbor Defenses. Very critical area of the country that needed to be protected.
