Santa Barbara – Sunday 6/23

There are several spots on the trip where we wish we had spent more time and Santa Barbara was one of them. Hamp and Lorie were great host for a day around town. We started the day off slow at the camp site and then headed to town around noon.

We started at the Moxi interactive museum downtown and were pleasantly surprised. We have been to plenty of museums so curious how it would be different but the exhibits were excellent and the kids did not want to leave.

We did lunch at the Santa Barbara Harbor and then William and I took a few runs at the local skate park. Grace was in her happy place exploring all the different artist displays along the boardwalk.

There was air flowing through the tubes and you could redirect the flow to allow the cloth balls to shoot out from different tubes.
Very strong magnet with washers.
Very cool automated race track with photo finish.
Lots of parts to build your own custom race car.
When you held the bar for 5 seconds it would beat the drum to the beat of your heart. In a moment of romance I asked Dina to grab the bar so we could see our hearts beating for each other. She is laughing because her side never started beating. I guess I need to study up on her love language.
The craft/design room where Grace stayed for an hour.
Lots of design options including these 3D printers.
Walking back form lunch.
Interesting learning about the vibrant sailing community and how it has changed over the years.

The fog/clouds were receding. They said that fog creates what they call June gloom but we had a clear day today.
Views like this prompted statements like “why do we live in Raleigh?”.
