Arriving in Santa Barbara 6/22

First off bandwidth is an issue. Between work emails, attempted blog posts, Netflix and a few other devices we are crushing any connection we can get our hands on. We have a Verizon Mifi but they start throttling usage once you reach 25 Gigs in a billing cycle. Thankfully we had a billing cycle at the half way point but we’ve maxed it out both times. Our phones have unlimited plans without throttling but it is interesting trying to figure out who is on what hotspot to spread out our connections.

Our next stop was Ocean Mesa resort just outside of Santa Barbara across from El Capitan State Beach. We were staying near Santa Barbara to spend time with my second cousin Hamp and his wife Lorie. The dropped in to check out our camp site Saturday night, with homemade cookies, and then helped us plan out our day in town.

After setting up camp and visiting with Hamp and Lorie we walked over to El Cap beach to check out the Pacific. It was getting late so the kids just explored the beach for a while and then we turned in for the night.

Our site at Barstow, CA. Not the most exciting stop but level clean spots to get in and out of quickly. Barstow was home to a Marine logistics base which was exciting for the boys. It was cool to see a train passing by with 40-50 tanks in tow.
Some high dollar rigs in Barstow, CA. The variety of rigs you see at each site is pretty cool.

It was great to put out our full spread and grill dinner.
The kids first dip in the Pacific ocean.
Kids crazy as usual.
Sunset pose by Brooke William and Benjamin.
This was one of my favorite nights as we all had a great time eating s’mores around the fire.
