Vegas

Driving from Zion to Vegas was not too bad even though the temperature stayed above 100. Thankfully the Excursion keeps cool while towing and not impacted by the outside temperature.

Arriving in Vegas was one of the highlights of our trip as we were stopping in for a quick visit with our Apex neighbors who move back out here in March. They had lived NV for over 20 years but spent 7 in NC. They prepared a wonderful meal for us and we had a great time catching up and hearing about life in this area. The kids had a great time exploring all the plants in their yard and nearly harvesting all of their aloe! Thank you for a great visit Tim and Phila and thank you for the binoculars and Team Hester mascot.

North Vegas seemed like are more industrial side of town but the KOA campground there was gated and well lit. While hooking up the kids hit the pool and we started doing laundry. We thought laundry was going to be an issue but most of the campgrounds we’ve used have commercial grade units which are great when doing clothes for 7.

Our site was only 18 minutes from the strip so after laundry we headed there to let the kids see the lights.

We are pushing to make Santa Barbara by Saturday night so after lunch in Vegas we drove past the Mojave desert to our next site in Barstow, CA.

It is almost a guarantee that either Benjamin and William will be made during a family photo!
Our new team mascot, Eli.
We have always been very grateful for what Tim has taught the children, especially William. Here they are working with some of the aloe leaves.
Benjamin stacking rocks similar to how they mark the trails in the Utah parks.
Gas is creeping up as we move west!
